Cataclismic variable stars

Example observations of cataclismic variable stars.

Nova Lupi 2011

According to AAVSO Alert Notice no. 444 Nova in Lupus was discovered by Nicholas Brown from Quinns Rock in Western Australia on 4th of August 2011 like a 10.2 mag star, with coordinates: α: 14h54m20s, δ: -55° 05′ 03″. Spectroscopic observations confirmed, that this is a Fe II nova.

We checked our observations' archive in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, and noticed, that the nova was visible since at least July 24 with brightness more or less 10.3 magnitudo in k2a camera and 11.2 in k2d.

"Pi of the Sky" images 200x200 pixels = 2°x2°. K2a camera is equipped with an R-filter, while k2d camera observing in visible light. Pictures from k2a camera are on the left side, from k2d - on the right (click in the picture to enlarge):
